URGENT APPEAL
to all our Members & Supporters

As you know, Cats’ Aid tries to help all endangered cats and kittens who come to our notice.  Due to our number of fosterers being seriously depleted, we are having to board many of these cats in veterinary clinics at a cost of €8 - €10 per cat per night.  Some of these cats, especially the elderly ones, can be in kennels for some time before a suitable home is found.  Financially this is just not sustainable.

Can you be a fosterer?
Even for a few months? ... to enable
us to continue our work of rescue, rehabilitation & rehoming.

We really need your help – URGENTLY.

What does Fostering entail?
Briefly, it means giving a temporary home to a cat or kitten
until a permanent home can be found.
-  A loving foster home works wonders for cats and kittens who have experienced abandonment and hard times and it prepares them for their new home.
-  All animals are health checked and Cats’ Aid takes responsibility for all medical expenses.
-  Every effort is made to suit the cat/kitten to your domestic situation
and advice and backup is always on hand.

For more information on Fostering,
please call (01) 668 3529 or email catsaid@gmail.com

 SHEAMALLA NAIR

Cats' Aid would like to make contact with SHEAMALLA NAIR who, at one  time, lived in Kilmacud, Co. Dublin and later in Hove, East Sussex, U.K.  We know that she has now moved to the Boston area of the U.S.A.  and was making arrangements to take her cats from the U.K. to the  U.S.A.  We would be interested in hearing how this was done and would  like to share her experience with others.  If anyone knows how we can contact Sheamalla, please email Cats' Aid at:  catsaid@gmail.com

Fostering - what's it all about?

Fostering is what we do until a home can be found for a cat.  Usually the cats will be fostered by a core group in Cats' Aid but it has now become urgent to find others who can share some of the burden.  What does it involve?  Taking a cat into your home and giving it TLC.  Cats' Aid will provide backup and defray medical and special dietary expenses.  More information is available here

Cyprus Cats
We all love our Summer holidays, but even on holiday
animal lovers are faced with the sad and heartbreaking
sight of stray, sick cats roaming the streets.
If you’ve ever been to Cyprus you may have seen the
many abandoned cats there, left to their own devices
and facing an uncertain pitiful future.

One couple are trying to make a difference.
Check out their website and read their story on

Wonder where we are and what we do?

Cats' Aid is made up of volunteers who give of their free time to offer help to cats in need.  We have no premises and foster cats in our own homes until they are re-homed.  Sometimes this is not possible and the cats become "permanent fosters".  In such cases we ask for sponsorship to help with medical and food bills.  One of our goals is to rescue, rehabilitate and find good homes for unwanted cats on the explicit understanding that no health-recoverable cat taken in by Cats' Aid will be destroyed.  You can view our other goals here.

Contact with Cats' Aid

You may contact us with regard to homing, fostering, sponsoring and

Homing is where it's really at

Cats' Aid is about providing homes for cats.  How do we do that?  We put photos and details of cats on our web pages and ask you if you could give one (or more) a home.  Some cats (not all) have "terms and conditions" - for example, brothers and sisters are better homed together.  Others may have special medical condition - deafness, blindness (one or both eyes), missing limb or tail, yet they don't let these conditions bother them and neither should you.  Cats' Aid will call to you home to check for suitability to apprise you of all that is involved including any backup required.  Check here for details.

Sponsoring is another way you can help.

Because we have a number of cats that cannot, for one reason or another, be re-homed, it puts a large financial burden on Cats' Aid to provide medical help and food.  This money could be put to better use if we can get sponsorship.  Sponsorship involves dedicating a sum of money each month to a cat in order to offset expenses.  In return we will send you a laminated card (same size as a credit card) that has a photo and some information about the cat you have sponsored.  For more information, click here.

The sadder side of work with Cats' Aid.

On the 17th of November 2003, a very special lady passed away and left behind 4 cats.  Read the circumstances of these cats - click here.

Read here an important note about Cats' Aid and computer viruses.  We ensure as far as it is within our control to prevent the spread of viruses.  Have you had an e-mail with a virus from us.  Do you know how to protect your PC?
Other stuff .....

Our web site does contain "other stuff".  We are not without a sense of humour and can laugh at ourselves as well - pay a visit to our humour page.

We also have links to other sites and some information articles such as "How not to lose your cat" and "Settling in your new cat or kitten".  We also provide a free newsletter.  We have a photo gallery, a section for departed friends and we can also provide you with space to advertise lost or found cats.

Everyone gravitates towards the cute little kitten.

But older cats have a lot of advantages that you may not have thought about.....

Read this short article to find out more that may be to YOUR advantage.
