Today (Tuesday, Nov-17-2003) along with a colleague from Cats' Aid, I experienced the  sadder side of Cats' Aid work.

It was a scenario that I am sure every rescue group dreads.

A short while ago a very special lady passed away unexpectedly.  She had taken in and cared for cats in her area for many years. She has left behind her own four treasured cats who have no idea what is happening to them and why she is not around anymore.  At the moment we have left them at their home, we feel it would be better to re-home them straight from there, as not to upset them more than necessary.

A friend is going round twice a day to feed and look after them, doing the best she can, given the sad circumstances. We are urgently appealing for temporary foster homes or permanent homes, for the four cats in question.  All cats,  three female and one male are over 7 years of age and have been spayed and neutered and are the most loving and gentle of cats, lost without their owner.  They desperately need  secure and loving homes.

They have been well cared for and loved all their lives, and as I looked around the home, and saw their photographs on the walls and  their toys on the floor, I could tell they had been the centre of her life, and her theirs.

Below is a brief description of each cat and photographs of cats similar to them.  Given the sad circumstances, we did not want to impose on people's grief, or upset the cats more than necessary.  Again, we would prefer to home the cats directly rather than go through some intermediary steps. For full details and information on all of the cats please call Cats Aid on (01) 668 3529.

Tosca.
Female A beautiful pale tortie approx 7-8 years of age.

Illan.
Female. Magnificent brown/red tabby, approx7-8 years of age, who is very lost without her owner.

Dizzy.
Male. A big cuddly black teddy bear of a cat, approx 7-8 years of age.

Princess.
Last but not least Princess, as her name implies, she is very much a Princess and the most "lost" of them all.
I found Princess curled up on a cardigan which belonged to her owner, which she very seldom leaves. Princess is a large well rounded female, approx 8 years of age, mainly white with slight grey brown markings.

If you can give a home to any of these deserving cats please contact Cats Aid on (01) 668 3529.
